Raising Hands community campaign

On December 16, our team was contacted by Ron Nelson, President of a local homeless shelter, regarding Nairobi, a pregnant woman currently residing at the shelter. Prior to arriving at the shelter, Nairobi had been living out of her vehicle, which was recently totaled due to severe weather conditions, leaving her without reliable transportation.

Nairobi speaks Spanish only and is actively working toward stability and employment. Reliable transportation is critical, as she is currently being interviewed for a housekeeping position with Lake Lawn.

A local dealership, Kunes Delavan Ford, has identified a suitable vehicle—a 2006 Kia Rio (Stock #01P2703B)—priced at $2,000. The shelter has committed to contributing $500 toward the purchase. To bridge the remaining gap, there is a proposal to launch an internal, GoFundMe-style employee campaign to raise the remaining $1,500.

The goal is to share this fundraiser internally and within the community to help Nairobi regain transportation, support her path to employment, and provide greater stability during this critical time.
